The mission of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways, and coastal regions, as directed by the United States Coast Guard. We will balance our missions in Recreational Boating Safety, Coast Guard Support with Maritime Homeland Security and other challenges that emerge as a result of our growing understanding of changes required in the post-9/11 era.

National Legislative Liaison Committee:

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary National Legislative Liaison Committee (NLLC) was created by the National Coast Guard Auxiliary Board to keep interested peoples informed of legislative action as well as to act as official representatives of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary when testifying during state and local legislative hearings, with meetings with Governors' staffs, and with state and federal lawmakers.  It is our intention by the creation of this website to keep the members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the general boating public, up-to-date.  The NLLC reports directly to the National Commodore of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

The U.S. Coast Guard is divided into two Areas:  Pacific Area and Atlantic Area.  Within the Auxiliary branch of the USCG, the Atlantic Area is divided in two: Atlantic Area West (Districts 8 and 9) and Atlantic Area East (Districts 1, 5, and 7).  And for the Auxiliary there are three Area Coordinators: one for Pacific Area, one for Atlantic Area West, and one for Atlantic Area East.  The Area Coordinators are appointed by the National Commodore.  Also, individual State Liaisons are appointed by each District Commodore.
